Abstract
|

|
Caroli´s disease, cystic dilatation of the intrahepatic bile duct without the involvement of the choledochus, is rare and some cases are reported in our country.
Embryonal defect of the bile duct system is suggested , as a causal factor. The usual sysptoms are RUQ pain, fever and jaundice, and are present between the age of 20 and 30.
The reliable diagnostic methods are operative and percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography which show the sacculation of the intrahepatic bile ducts and well communication with the main duct system.
A case. of Caroli´s disease which occured in 18 year old male and was diagnosed after operative cholangiography was experienced at the dept. of surgery of Sung Shim hospital, Chung Ang university.
